Someone Stealing your Idea? Execution is what matters Not the Idea Itself!
Why Do We Fear Someone Stealing our Idea?
I see my friends and my teammates often hide their secrets as if their idea will change the face of the planet. This comes from a mentality that the ideas they have in their minds have a huge potential that could make millions in the future.
Honestly, you are wrong by at least 97%. The reason being simple, everyone has a brain that works at certain chemical reactions and they all get the ideas and there is a 30% chance that the idea a normal human brain generates could be generated by another normal brain. And you already knew how many normal brains we have in this world.
So, if you are thinking that your idea will generate a pile of Dollars in the future. You are totally, TOTALLY WRONG.
Ideas actually form a basic sense of possibilities that could shape distant dreams. Ideas are like the lens which can clear the blurred vision making the visibility easier to visualize. But mind you, these can only let you know that you could touch and feel the objects you see. But they won’t bring those objects to you. You need to step ahead, walk towards it and achieve your dreams or goals.
So, Why Do We Fear Someone Stealing our Idea?
- We are not ready to Execute that Idea
- We lack the resources to bring the Idea to Life
- Jealous of other people becoming successful
- Lack of Confidence
- Inability to think like a Leader.
Not ready to execute the Idea
Oftentimes, many entrepreneurs have this fear of failing before they even start thinking to execute. Think of a bag of Cashew seeds. It is very nicely wrapped around a dry sheet, not letting anyone touch and taste them. You saved it for a year, now it is the second year and it’s still intact. years pass by and now you became older and when you feel like tasting them- they are already dead. The life in the seed is gone and they are useless.
If you picked out all the seeds or at least a few of them and planted them in your garden. This could have become a tree and your next generations and if you are lucky enough, you might as well taste the fresh seed from the cashew plants.
Ideas are only helpful to anybody only if they are executed by you. That’s what true Entrepreneurs do. If you hold them back, you will never experience their true potential.
Lack of Resources to Bring Idea to Life
One good thing that I am experiencing these days is when I don’t have the ability to deal with the idea. I talk it out to potential people. Sometimes, many ideas were not seeing the limelight and fortunately, few of them were appreciated by total strangers. In fact, they came forward to help me execute those ideas.
You never knew what the future has in for you. So start taking your ideas to potential people and see the magic happening.
Feeling Jealous of someone whose ideas are working and not yours is the cheapest thing ever. If someone is actually stealing your idea and presenting it as their own, I think you should be proud that the idea is being used by someone else. That way, you knew that you are a machine with great ideas.
One thing for sure happens if you stop being jealous of other’s ideas working out, is you start becoming better as the first phase of the idea being appreciated is clear and now you make your next move of executing them silently on your own and see the progress.
Lack of Confidence
I see my parents talking about a lot of ideas and suggestions most of the time and am sure you must be witnessing such situations as well. Everybody likes to advise, like to give suggestions for free, make them sound exciting to hear. But trust me, they are not what they sound like. The path of execution is very hard and you have to learn it the hard way.
Confidence will be within you and keeps growing as you execute them. Fail twice and ten, but you are learning in the process and this process will itself teach you the best ways to bring your idea to life.
Inability to think like a Leader
This is a secret sauce that only leaders can understand. You will not be reading this article if you are a leader already.
So start thinking about an idea and discuss it with the right people who are openly listening to you. They are the ones who can direct you right. and stop being an introvert. Go on, celebrate Ideas.
Again, The Value proposition of your idea will be entirely different from those who steal the idea as they would least know about it. So stop thinking like a hyena and start hunting like a Lion.
Good Luck and start talking your ideas out. That’s good for your business and personal mental health.
